
Twitter or sometimes referred to as the SMS of the internet by Jack Dorsey gained its international notability since its creation in 2006. By allowing its users to send tweets (message containing 140 characters in maximum) free, it has been very popular worldwide. Facebook by Mark Zuckerberg on the other hand is like an imitation of another social network, friendster. The popularity of these social networks was almost equal until Facebook started to lag behind Twitter. This is probably because Twitter offers a faster and more convenient way of sending messages which is comparable to the SMS service of our cell phones. Facebook is a more complex network which truly needs maintenance by the users.
