I don’t know what’s going on with the System of Smart Bro Here in Lingayen Pangasinan. The Internet Connection is not just slow but VERY, VERY SLOW…..It’s like a Dial Up connection. If lots of internet subscribers here in lingayen, thought that the speed of Digitel DSL connection is somewhat like “Faster than Dial-up”, then SMART BRO now is like Dial-Up it self….REALLY! That’s right. It happen last March 9, 2009 after a whole night rain that cause an internet connection fail that last for two weeks. So many complains came along that I personally went to Smart Bro at Nepo Mall Dagupan City just to tell them about the current situation. And their personnel just direct me to a costumer service in Manila assuring me that they will call me back for further information on what to be done on my internet connection. And then the connection was restored but, the problem now is, it becomes VERY SLOW….. Some of its technicians said , SMART is doing some Enhancement (Low Tech Programming or what so ever) that until now the internet is still no faster than Dial-up.

I hope Smart Bro will do something about it because with the coming of Globe wireless Internet Connection that is currently has its end point cell site at Binmaley, probably we (lingayen subscribers) will divert to get the higher speed internet connection with Globe.
That is right. That is the result when an area is congested with a lot of users. It might happen too here in our area that as of now we are still few Globe Broadband subscribers. I hope not.

At first, i don’t believe on some people telling me that “pangit ang smart bro pre”. mag digitel ka na lang or pldt. I respect and admire a lot the services of smart and umabot pa sa point na i chose smart bro. it was august 2008 i think when they installed smart bro d2 sa house ko. the connection was good until february 2009. imagine, i could possibly download an 800mb movie w/in 3 to 4 hours lang. but now, it will take me a week o download an 800mb movie. it is proven nga na hindi lang ako ang nageexperience ng super duper slow connection d2 sa lingayen,pangasinan. i also called the hotline of smartbro many times and yet isa lang ang lagi nilang sagot:”we are doing some system enhancement” , nagkaroon ng technical problem ang base station ng lingayen. anak ng teteng yan oh! umaabot pala ng 1 month or mahigit pa ang system enhancement. that would probably mean siguro na talaga lang na hindi nila inaasikaso ang base station. one call that i made in the hotline of smart bro, they said that pag nagkaroon ng technical problem sa base station e pinupuntahan asap ng mga system engineers nila ung base station. nagduda ako ng una so i decided to go to the base station to check if may tao nga na nagpunta doon. and i found out that hindi daw nagpupunta ang mga system engineers or mga in charge sa technical problems sa base station.. ayon yan sa caretaker na nakausap ko mismo dun sa base station ng lingayen.after that i called again the hotline, and they said that remotely naman ngayon ang ginagawang maintenance. hindi na daw kailangan pumunta ang mga incharge sa base station. do you see that? ano pa kaya ang sinasabing totoo ng mga agents ng hotline ng smartbro. dapat pa kaya akong maniwala? parang malapit na akong maniwala sa haka haka na pangit nga ang service ng smart bro. if ever na hindi maayos ng smart ang base station nila d2 sa lingayen,pangasinan, i will have my contract terminated and i will not pay the remaining months. ang inapplyan ko sa smart bro ay plan 999 with a speed of 384kbps but ang pumapasok lang sakin is 20.3kbpps ayon sa speed test that i made in http://www.2wire.com.

Im from Negros Occidental,smartbro user, naku po, nakakahiya man sabihin pero 20kbps din speed dito…Im doing my training now, we’re using internet as a tool to communicate,our boss is in manila.then we have some directives to download some programs to be used in the project,it was 434mb; me and my co worker download the software maybe 20 secs difference, and guess wat? he had finished for just a minute,funny thing is he is in the internet cafe,and me? wow…4 hours of waiting,so they started with the training with me behind….huhuhu smartbro nakakahiya ka…
ely, the problem with smart is they use “call centers” to support their business. as always being enocuntered, call centers are robots. if ur concerns not on their list of items they are suppose to answer u then the last thing they will do (from step 1 to 3)— “sorry sir/ma’am, please bear with us”, or “we are expediting it”, or mag-sorry. hehehe! they were trained to do that. wired pa rin ang the best. just like at this hour i am typing this, i am testing the smart bro USB. sus marya! 2kbps!!! if you guys will read it then i am successfully sent this msg using the 2kpbs. AMAZING!!!!

When it comes d2, dnt pick PLDT kasi congested na sila. Ill rather go to Globe wired broadband. They installed the latest cable at di congested kaya sobrang bilis. Di pa paputol putol linya like Smart
I don’t patronized any telco’s. I Agree with Jayb to get a broadband connection you can choose wired connection from any internet provider instead of wireless. I tried wireless before and I had this bad experience aside from too slow, my connection is intermittent to the point that my computer was disconnected to the internet. Now I’m subscribed with wired broadband (my area is not part yet of the coverage area of Globe Broadband) and I get what is really promise of my provider 512kbps and sometimes more than (maybe our place is not congested yet hehehe).

Panu pa kaya ako I’ve been a subscriber for 4years na sa SmartBro(please magtagalog kayo di ko kayo maintindihan). 1 year worst imagine walang internet connection ng umaga lalo na if may araw you heard me right pag may araw. For example maulap taz natakpan ung T10 na antenna remember ung square shaped noon. MAY INTERNET! pero if may araw na at nasikatan na si antenna wala ng internet! gabi lang talaga may internet.. They tried lots of antennas same model same behavior. So napilitan silang gamitin ung Motorola na canopy…. and for 2 years I have great internet connection I am one of the lucky folks huh… pero ngayon worst na 4MB file took me 1hr to download ask the speed 223bps sabihin nila, sorry sir may technical stuff going on sa base station… #$!@ YOU CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Right! I’m sure this time, thru this blog SMART Communications have read these concerns and call there attention.. Or else it’s time to boycott this useless subscription…

I’d like to ask a question regarding this matter, well, I live and was raised here in Manila, but every summer or when vacation comes (e.g. xmas vacation, sem break, all saints day), my parents always have plans on going back there in pangasinan to reunite with our grandparents along with the whole “ankan”, actually our grandparents live in binmaley… now since the start of the boom of mobile internet (e.g. globe tattoo, smart bro and the like) I was kind of planning to buy a mobile internet modem here so that I would have an internet access once we go back again this year there in pangasinan…
my question are as follows:
1. What Internet connection would you recommend me to buy? Would it be a Globe Tattoo or a Smart Bro Prepaid kit? (even though I have read on your blogpost that you are against smart bro, I just need a bit of reaffirmation that smart bro sucks there on pangasinan.)
2. Are you right there in pangasinan? or were you just there for vacation also when you did the speed testing?
3. Do you think I’d rather settle for Globe Tattoo if I am there in pangasinan?
4. Did you had the chance to try the Globe tattoo or the Globe Wireless internet there in pangasinan?
Pasensya na sa mga tanong, Im just a bit hesitant kasi… Actually I’m also a Wireless internet subscriber, here in manila nga lang, and I’m using Globe Wireless and my connection here is great, I was just wondering if it would also do wonders for me when Im there in pangasinan.
Siguro last year (march-may 2008) okay lang nuon na wala akong internet access for weeks while I was on vacation there, pero now that I am also into blogging, being offline for just a few days would mean a lot to me na. 3 days without internet would make my email inbox to pile up with messages.
So… what would be the verdict?

hay naku im from Zamboanga,10 days ago sobra humina na talaga connection ng Smart. more than a year na ako subscriber ng Smart BROken pero grabe tong lag at disconnection nangyayari this past few days. in the contract they say na 384kbps yung speed. but in my 1 yr plus subscription hnde pa ata ako nakaapak sa nasabing speed na yan.
im planning to end my contract with Smart and start new with globe.

Thanks for the comment Buddy Mate, I suggest since telephone is not yet available in your area you rather apply for a wireless internet connection such as SmartBro (Plan P999.00) since you just want to connect 5 unit(s). With wireless it could reliably handle your typical internet browsing and you won’t pay much for the internet connection. But no,no for online Gaming definitely it logs. If your customers wants more for gaming then apply for the SMARTBRO wireless corporate connection plan (2,000.00-P3000.00) this is monthly bill, and with this you could increase your unit(s) up to 10-20 if ever dedicated for small internet Cafe.. Globe Wireless Also could be possible… I just apply for a GLOBE Wireless internet But after installing there canopy(antenna) (“Naku! kulang kulang pa ang mga Gamit ng GLOBE, Asar(!@#$%^) wala pang metal pipe na pagkakabitan.. at very limited pa yung wire nila… ano b yan GLOBE) so, after installing i check the speed thru SPEEDTEST, Etc.. lumalabas mas mabilis pa ang SMARTBRO keysa GLOBE…. So, Pina-dismantle ko agad ang Canopy nila at modem(LAHAT). I was so disappointed, Kala ko papalitan ko na SMARTBRO ko yun Pala mas Ok pa sila. Hay Promo mga naman. Tama sabi ni Noli (Comment #1) mabilis lang sa umpisa pero the rest super mabagal. Kaya Digitel na siya ngayon, hahahah.
So I suggest to all internet subscribers if your area has telephone connection then better apply for a wired internet connection(Digitel, PLDT, kung meron sana dito BAYANTEL noh!) super bilis daw nito sa Manila..

Baka “LOW Signal”, ang interception ay probably galing ng ISLA ng Bolinao! may Cell Site ang GLOBE kasi dun, Kung sa bayan, I think SMART has a Cell Site near town, Just bring with you your mobile internet Broad band.. I might be wrong maybe this two big Internet Providers have Antennas already near your vacation place…..

Try testing your internet connection against the server at Paranuaque and you’ll get a faster and more accurate result. I did a test for Sun Broadband at http://chopsueyrice.blogspot.com/ and I get a 2.20 mbps. That’s fast for a promised 2 mbps.

smart can’t fix their problems, my internet connection is so slow i went to their office a couple of times and until now they have no remedy.i pay every month but still have no connection, im just making them rich but their services they cant provide.they say i can’t disconnect my connection because we have a contract of one year so i have to pay them the remaining months. even if they can’t provide a good service. what kind of contract is that.they should provide a better connection so i would be happy to pay them monthly

Dati ang internet connection ko yung sa CLICK sa CaTV. Kala ko ang Bagal nung connectio dahil yung pa lang unang internet connection na na try ko kaya after 1 month na nagamit ko sya hindi ko na itinuloy yung pagbabayad sa monthly kahit na naka-1 year contract sya. Then I’ve tried Smart Bro Wireless Kit Plan 999, taga Olongapo ako at ngaun lagpas 1 month ko na sya ginagamit. Sobrang na-attract kasi ako dun sa Up to 2Mbps Internet connection daw at No.1 Top Selling Broadband daw sabi pa sa commercial sa T.V.. My office location is in the boundary of Sta. Rosa Laguna and Silang Cavite. Meron kaming globe (2 months na) and smart broadband ( almost 1 year na) that supports 10PCs today… we are comparing it side by side – parehong mabagal … download is 1-50 Kbps (sometimes 100Kbps) each vs. 1 Mbps na binabayaran natin o kahit 300 Mbps pwede na sana.
TECH SUPPORT”
Smartbro tech support is mechanical (robots) – base station problem, etc. – nakakasawa tumawag.
Globe tech support is responsive (as of today) and seems honest about the technical findings.
DSL and GLOBE TATTOO:
I also have DSL sa bahay (Sta. Rosa Laguna), much better talaga pag wired. I also have globe tattoo at most of the time maganda connection.
SUMMARY”
I you dont have DSL option, in my experience globe tattoo has better connection (SUPERSURF50 for 24hrs = PHP 50). Ewan ko kung bakit mas stable compared with globe broadband. Smartbro service is poor at hindi nalalalyo sa globe broadband.
NEXT STEP:
With all the information that we have, we can say that we are not getting the services that we paid for. Dapat siguro may gawin ang DTI dito.
What can we do as a group? How can we help the admin of this discussion?
