Identity Stealing for Facebook Users

One of the newest and the hottest attraction nowadays in the internet is social network Facebook. It uses the same principle as the friendster so for a person to be able to have access on this network, signing up is the first and foremost requirement and for those who have already signed up on this social network, to log in will be the only way for you to access your account. In a simple look, this is just a simple process. Yes, it is just a simple process until a problem occurred in the system. Identity stealers have already invaded the once peaceful network.

The problem being referred is a Phishing scam which do not attack a user’s computer but tries to steal a person’s username as well as his/her password. The system of the scam was a simple yet a clever one. It will make a user believe that he or she has been disconnected to Facebook and will be forced to log in again by clicking the “hello” message that contains the link http://www.facebook.com/l/4253f;http: //fbaction.net/ and will bring the user to the log in page of Facebook which is actually not a page of the said network. Upon re-log in of the user, phishers do their job and steals the identity of the user.

Facebook already said that they are already aware of this problem but why is it that the problem has not been eliminated? Could it be that the chances for what they call inside-job is possible? If this is so, I for one believe that Facebook can no longer be treated as a friendly site because as you are logging in, your identity might be stolen from you.
